Katie was Canada’s first paediatric heart transplant patient at the age of seven after she was diagnosed with cardio myopathy, the result of contracting a virus. 30 years later, she received a second transplant and is one of the 502 British Columbians who received a transplant in 2018, setting a new record for the total number of transplants in a calendar year.
